He often stayed there, especially from the late 1980s onwards, to find peace and inspiration. With Queen, he recorded several albums at Mountain Studios in the Montreux Casino, including Made in Heaven, which was completed shortly after his death. The city became his refuge, a place where he could work freely and live almost anonymously. Today, a statue in his honor stands by the lake, symbolizing his deep connection to Montreux.
